Reflections is my emotional response to the textures and colours created along the estuary when the River Torridge is like a mill pond. The tide is gently ebbing, being pulled bak out to sea leaving behind textured sand banks which reflect back at you. A maze of tiny rivers flowing out to sea. After walks along the Tarka Trail to Instow during Lockdown , the shapes of the landscape had become seared into my memory. Here you see Appledore across the river, textures being picked up in the oil pastels and watercolour. The hazy shadow of Crow Point on Braunton Burrows is hinted at in the distance. In a lot of my paintings, I wanted to capture that vibrant, cobalt blue sky that we experienced during Lockdown. Nature reclaimed itself for such a short period of time. Here it is in all it's glory - captured and remembered forever.
